Explanation: to remember how to calculate the mean (average).

How It Works: (Mr. Mean never smiles and makes you work)

• start with the eyes – add #’s
• nose – count #’s (how many factors do you have?)
• mouth – divide by that number

Example:

• 20 + 30 + 40 = 90
• 3 numbers (factors)
• 90/3 = 30
• 30 is the mean (average)
